Acts of Kindness Weekend A Success

Workers landscaping homes on Catherine Street for A-OK! 2011.
We marked the 10th anniversary of 9/11 with a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives. We honored them by giving back in our own communities, to make life and living better for our neighbors. A-OK! Weekend, Acts of Kindness, happened Friday -Sunday, Sept 9-11. To see all the projects, see this Wikispaces webpage (click on underlined type).
Activities included weeding in Liverpool, a ceremony to honor first responders in Syracuse, and a clean-up of children’s graves at Oakwood Cemetery. One church cooked and served a free Sunday breakfast for people in its neighborhood. Staff at Beaver Lake Nature Center Beaver Lake Nature Center organized a children’s games and crafts. Those are just a few of the dozens of activities happening, literally, all across metro Syracuse.
When 9/11 happened in 2001, we all wanted to do something. This weekend harnessed some of that spirit. Get involved!
