We annually mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11 with a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives. We honor them by giving back in our own communities, to make life and living better for our neighbors. A-OK! Weekend, Acts of Kindness, occurs on the weekend nearest 9/11.
For 2013 we hope to chronicle at least 3000 acts of kindness by individuals, families, or groups. These will be announced at an interfaith prayer service Thursday, Sept. 12 6:30 p.m. at Unity Church of Syracuse, 300 W. Seneca Turnpike. (click previous address for a map).
When the terrorism occurred in 2001, we all wanted to do something. So it’s in that spirit that we go out each year to do something that makes a difference, something that builds a bridge.
In 2012 we observed the day on September 8-9, with WTB women and others doing various projects including clean-ups, our third painting assignments, and childrens’ activities.
