Beyond educating ourselves about different religions and cultures, WTB strives to make the world a better place. When we began, right after 9/11/2001, everyone asked, "What can we do."
INTERNATIONAL WORK
We've partnered with two international organizations to help women in other countries. In 2006 we raised more than $6,000 through an international dinner to help microfinancing projects around the world through Women for Women. We provided start-up money to help women develop a small business and get job training. In 2002 and 2004 we raised more than $15,000 to built a school in Pakistan through IBTIDA. We also raised funds to send to victims of the South Asia tsunami in 2005.
CNY AND US PROJECTS
Closer to home we've sent clothes and money to Hurricane Katrina. We're helping inner city youth, refugees, women victims, and local women struggling to feed their families. At our fund-raising dinners we've raised more than $2200 for Chadwick House, which offers housing and services to women in transition, and $1500 to help people learn to read through Literacy Volunteers of Syracuse.
