 | One month we gathered layettes and receiving blankets for new moms at Chadwick House, Syracuse, and the Center for New Americans. |
Our vision statement says we come together to serve others. When women of different faiths work together on these projects they experience a double benefit—-they transcend boundaries of faith and heritage and get to know other women, but they also transcend economic boundaries and work with those less fortunate.
The Service Committee, headed by Jan Garman coordinates project to make a difference in the lives of people right here in Central New York, and sometimes even a world away. The focus for the 2007-2008 year will be:
- sharing hospitality with new immigrants and assisting in programs of the Center for New Americans.
- distributing school supplies through Carol Perry's Refrigerator Door Club for underprivileged children in Syracuse.
- working with OnPoint for College to give hope to teens who never thought they could go to college and outfitting their dorm rooms and backpacks.
If you’re interested in being a part of one of these activities call Jan Garman at 446 4688 or email projects@wtb.org.
